My new 508 has a fault

I have just taken delivery of a brand new diesel Peugeot 508 SW. It arrived with the towing eye cover missing.

This was pointed out to them by me and a replacement was sourced and fitted within 5 hours.

On the evening of the day I picked the car up (30 miles on the clock) I got in and was presented with the error messages 'Electronic Parking Brake fault' and 'Hill assist unavailable' The dash was flashing four error lights at me.

I was unable to get the car off my drives incline for about 1 hour. Eventually the fault cleared and off I went.

I took it into the supplying Peugeot dealers the next day, they kept the car most of the day and gave it back with the words 'we have reset the parameters as per Peugeot.'

They did confirm that a fault was logged by the car when they scanned it. It seemed fine for another two days but last night the same fault occurred. It did clear much quicker this time though.

Its now Sunday and only the dealers sales side is open. I have a wife who is 9 days overdue with our second child and I NEED a car that I can rely on. I expected a brand new car to be reliable.

How should I progress this, what ground do I have for asking for a refund/compensation? Are these electronic parking brakes flawed?

First time I've heard of the problem with a 508. But in your circumstances you should suggest to the dealer that he takes your car back and supplies you with a reliable replacement at least until your wife gives birth.
