My second hand car has been in for repairs three times - what are my rights?

Bought a second hand car 3-2-12. Was in for repair 4-2-12, needed new brake switch - garage paid full fee. Bulb needed replacing - paid for it ourselves.

Now it needs something else, I think its new clutch but not sure yet. Estimated bill £192 not including labour or VAT.

Now garage wants to take it from repair shop and get it mended but is only willing to pay 50% - who should pay?

Where do we stand? Surely it's been sold not fit for purpose hasn't it? Surely he should pay whole bill shouldn't he?

Depending on how much you paid for the car, the dealer who sold it to you would normally be liable for the repair. But it would be possible for you to have damaged the clutch in you 6 weeks ownership, so being asked to fork out 50% of less than £200 seems reasonable to me for a cheap car.
