Could you recommend a pick-up truck suitable for carrying building materials?

I am involved with a charity for young people. We are doing a lot of self-build and repair work ourselves on the charity’s club and recreational centre. We have to watch every penny, as you may understand. We need a good, cheap pick-up truck that will be vital for collecting building materials, as if the suppliers don't deliver, you can negotiate a better price for most goods. We thought when we have finished with the pick-up truck, in about nine months, we could sell it on. We have about six to ten thousand pounds to spend. We have explored the rental option, but its prohibitively expensive, so we have decided to buy.

The best is the Isuzu D-Max 2.5 I-TEQ diesel, sold as the Isuzu Rodeo in the UK and fitted with the I-TEQ fully chain-cam diesel engine from 2007. My father-in-law has one in Thailand (that I bought for him), and I am also financing the HP of a cheaper Chevrolet Colorado that is basically the same. The engines and transmissions are all but bullet-proof and pleasant to use, and they are the most economical pick-ups. I've had 36mpg out of a 4WD and 40mpg out of our 2WDs. They will take a tonne. I have transported literally a ton of bricks in one of ours.
