An estate or MPV for less than £2000

I need to get a cheap but large estate or MPV with good fuel economy and running costs.
Favorites are Audi A6, though I have read scary stories about the auto boxes, or a Volkswagen Passat. I have been looking at a diesel, though the potential for turbo problems is not far from my mind.

I like Toyota cars but want to put all thoughts of ego aside and keep an open mind for a car that could last a good few years, though I don't tend to do mega miles.

Under £2,000 it's impossible to make any sort of recommendation. Just avoid a status badge because you can't afford one.
