Small car for the motorway

My wife has got a new job which will involve a 60 mile round trip, mainly motorway driving. She currently has a 2004, 1.4l Fiesta and we are wondering if she would be better replacing the Fiesta with something for a similar price that would get better MPG. A similarly aged 1.4l Jazz was what we had considered.
