Plan A
We have been looking to buy a 2-3 year old Mercedes A170SE auto for £10,000 - £13,000. As we want a light coloured interior and they are as rare as hen's teeth we have been offered a brand new A180 elegance SE auto with Parktronic pack and folding mirrors by a Mercedes dealer for £17,450, which they can do by registering it first to themselves and then to us. List is over £21,000. Should we go outside our comfort zone for this or carry on looking for the used one? We only do 3,000 – 5,000 miles a year and would keep it for a long time.

In this circumstance I'd go for the new car, with its 3-year new car
warranty and the extras that you will find very useful. But do get it
serviced every year. The Mercedes Assyst service indicator may say you can leave it a little longer, but I would not.
