Should I do what Mazda say?

Reading my Mazda MX-5 handbook and it says that if I am involved in an accident, I should NOT ring my insurance company but ring Mazda instead.

Is this a good idea? Surely it would be my responsibility to let my insurers know?

Most manufacturers are doing this to ensure their cars are repaired properly after a crash, and can then be sold as retail stock. This kind of accident management works to your benefit and keeps you out of the hands of the credit hire cowboys that left one reader with a £70,000 bill for the hire car he drove while his Bentley was being repaired.
