Juddering Fiesta 1.3
My 1997 Ford Fiesta 1.3 stalls when I slow down and go into second gear or when I come to a stop. It also judders when I accelerate and seems to be resisting speeding up. Black smoke comes out the exhaust and then all of a sudden it seems to clear and will jolt and speed up. Also when I just leave the engine running it sounds like it's going to stall, then brings itself back again. Do you know what the problem could be and how I could fix it thanks.

The idling system fails because a small tube gets blocked with sludge. You need to take it to someone who knows the foible of these rather nasty old engines.
