What can I do if the CUE database is wrong?
I parked wife’s car legally. Hours later we returned to find side damaged but no other vehicle admitted responsibility. Wife claimed repair on her insurance. I’ve just been told by an insurance company that I failed to declare an accident I was in - this was recorded on CUE database - so they’ve increased my premium and charged admin fee. But I wasn’t involved in an accident and I hadn’t made a claim. Is this right? It seems insane to say that because I was the last one to drive the car then I’m somehow involved in an accident.

Information about accidents and claims is recorded by CUE based on information supplied to them by insurers, so if the information is incorrect on CUE it is a matter of contacting the insurer of the vehicle at the time and asking them to provide the information they have and amending anything that is incorrect. If this is unsuccessful or you dispute the information provided by the insurer, we would suggest taking your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
