Question in respect of DPFs in new Freelander 2
I have read your general advice.
Can you advise how the regeneration of the DPF in a Freelander 2 works? Does it regenerate anyway when one goes on a long drive or will it wait until it is partly clogged and then ask one to go on a regeneration suitable drive? (So if I go on one long drive a month and rest 5 to 10 mile journeys, what will happen?)
After the initial warning to regenerate what is the likely travel distance before one will hit problems if one does not go on a suitable regeneration journey?

They cycle according to an ECU programme. But the exhaust system needs to be really hot for the burning off of particulates to occur. The need to regenerate depends on the number of cold starts where the particulates that need to be burned off are generated. The less cold starts, the less soot in the system.
