Exhausted exhaust
My son-in-law’s Peugeot 307SW has a light flashing saying the particulate filter wants servicing. He contacted his local Peugeot dealer who wants £400 plus to rectify this. Surely this is a monumental rip-off. How can they justify this amount? Is there a cheaper way?

The additive fuelled-diesel particulate filter on PSA cars and some Fords, Volvos and Jaguars requires periodic replenishment of the additive and may need the filter itself superheated to clear out particulates in it. But this type of DPF is actually more reliable than later types of DPF that self clean by heat alone.
