Is it difficult to insure an imported car?

I am looking at a Japanese import and I wonder what difference it might make to an insurance policy. Does the country it's imported from make a difference? As far as i can see it conforms just as though it were made for the British market.

Yes it does generally make a difference to an insurance policy. Some insurers won't insure imported cars and those that do might charge a higher premium because they don't know the full risks. The car may not have been built to the same specification as for the UK market and it may prove difficult to source parts for repair in the event of an accident.
