Merceladies Benz
My wife has recently bought me a Mercedes E320CDI. It has a full service record and has done 71k miles. I know that you do not recommend diesel motors if your average annual mileage is less than 15k. However, after part-exchanging a C230 Kompresor Sports Coupe for the E320CDI I have to say that I much prefer the E320, which I feel is a much more refined vehicle and delivers better fuel consumption than my previous car. Its fuel consumption "for shopping" is around 28 mpg and on a run I get nearly 50 mpg. I hope to keep the car for quite a few years but comments from you either direct or via the Telegraph would be appreciated.

It's auto, so no dual mass flywheel problems. And it's probably too old to have a diesel particulate filter, so that's something else you don’t have to worry about. Generally I wouldn't recommend a current diesel over a petrol unless you do 15k miles a year or more. But older diesels without DMFs and DPFs have some advantages, such as better lubrication with less condensation on a cold start.
