There's a fault with a car we bought from a secondhand dealer. Do we have to pay for diagnostics?
A car we bought from a secondhand dealer clearly had a fault on purchase but we only detected it when driving home on the motorway. Do we still have to pay the diagnostic costs and first £100 excess as stated in the warranty?

If you have owned the car for less than 30 days then you are entitled to a free repair or a full refund, as per the 2015 Consumer Right Act: www.honestjohn.co.uk/problems-with-a-new-or-used-c.../
If you have owned the car for longer than 30 days then the dealer should fix it without charge, because the problem was present or developing at the time of sale.
