Twoing and throwing

We are currently a two car couple and have just paid over £700 to have both cars serviced. This has made us realize that as pensioners it is time for us to become a one-car couple. Our problem is how best to achieve this economically. Both our cars are highly taxed and we need to move to a more economical vehicle, which has high access and is automatic for preference. At the moment the following interest us: Nissan Note, KIA Soul though we believe there maybe some good deals on one of the long established Citroens. Our current cars are:- 2005 Nissan X-Trail, SVE, 2.5 petrol automatic, 31,000 miles and 2003 Nissan Tino SE 1.8 petrol 16,000 miles. We are not keen on trying, nor have any experience of private sales. How do you suggest we proceed? We like the X-Trail and it is only the running costs that are influencing are wish/need to downsize. Your help/suggestions would be very much appreciated.

To offload either or both, try www.sure-sell.info for minimum hassle. Alternatively, www.webuyanycar.com ‘Automatic’ automatically pulls you out of low tax bands. There are some automated manuals that work, such as FIAT’s Dualogic, but there are no proper autos in the £35 band apart from the Toyota IQ 1.0 Multidrive CVT. Nissan does a Note 1.6 auto, which makes sense. Hyundai does an i10 1.2 auto and an i20 1.4 auto. Or there are the identical Suzuki Splash and Vauxhall Agila 1.2 automatics. Avoid diesel for retirement mileage. They clog their particulate filters.
