To drive an electric scooter into a vehicle requires at least six feet of headroom to enable a disabled driver to alight from the scooter and get out of the car: I speak from experience. I have one of the largest and heaviest scooters on the market. To transport it I bought a Citroen Berlingo Multispace fitted with an electric hoist supplied by Brig-Ayd Ltd. If the driver is disabled and below retirement age, such an outfit is VAT free. If the driver can walk from the driver's door to the rear door he will be able to lift the scooter in or out by himself quite easily with no physical exertion. The driving position is quite high and I find the seat comfortable.

Many thanks, but Gowrings has just developed a drive-in Doblo that is able to accommodate wider wheelchairs and 'scooters'. Citroen is also now offering the GM Coachwork Berlingo ‘Blade’ with this facility through its van dealerships.
