  • Correct paperwork? 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi gang - a neighbour of mine is finally getting shot of the ancient Ford Cortina estate which has been in his garage for about the last 20 years having been stolen, involved in an accident, recovered and then purchased back from his insurers. He'd intended to restore the car but never got around
  • Have I been duped?? 26 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I bought a three year old Ford Mondeo TDdi Ghia X from a dealer 14 days ago. At the time I made my concerns clear regarding a mistake in the logbook - it stated the car was a 4 door sallon Ghia - when infact it's a 5 door hatch Ghia X. The salesman assured me it was probably typing error on DVLA's

  • Booted Almeras 4 May 2004 (Forum)
SWMBO is due to change her Pug 206 Motability car in September. We've had fun and games deciding what to go for next. She really wanted something with a boot and the options were rather limited. In the end it came down to a Ford Focus saloon or a Nissan Almera saloon. The Almera turned out

My Mondeo (01 1.8 LX) was approaching it's third birthday so it was time for a change. Picked up the replacement yesterday - a four month old Vectra 2.0T SRi. Initial impressions after a day of ownership are very good. Build quality seems better than the Ford alhough the new car is not quite
  • Naming our cars 9 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Hi everyone, I was just reading a thread about Legacylad's Subaru (sorry to use you as an example pal!) and couldn't help noticing "Sammy Subaru the Third will be staying in the family a good deal longer.." This got me thinking, i found myself discussing my Ford Escort the other day, and rather
  • Aircon - worth fixing on older car? 22 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I've got a Ford Scorpio (2.9 12V, Estate, 1995) which is still going well, but the aircon has had it - for the sake of argument, let's say £500 of work needed. I can live without it, as to me it doesn't seem worth spending that amount of money on something which isn't essential on a car which
  • Sierra gearbox oil 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
NOT recommended for use in sierra five speed boxes. I just wondered if any backroomers know of good reasons why that is so or why one should only use genuine Ford stuff. Out of interest really, I'm not sure that a 150000 mile gearbox will suffer dramatically as long as some oil is in there.
  • Sympathy for White Van Man 2 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I now have total sympathy for White Van Man. On saturday I took a load of cadets over to RAF Woodvale to fly. The transport was a 16 seat ford transit, extra long. First time I have ever driven something bigger than a car (well, I have driven a tank, but that was off road) and I now appreciate
