A relative of mine currently has an old-shape Mazda 323 5 door (loathes the current shape) and will shortly be looking for a new (or low mileage 12-18 months old vehicle). His criteria (as described to me) are:
- "A bit different/stylish" (he doesn't need space)
- "Not a convertible"
- "Not a Citroen/Peugeot/Renault/Fiat/Alfa/Ford/Vauxhall" (!)
- "Not a VW Golf"
- "Reliable"
He has between 10K and 12K to spend - any ideas? He's thinking of a used (yr 2000 on model) Toyota Celica although he doubts he'll be able to find one at this price/age/low mileage. I've suggested a Mazda 6. What do 'the panel' recommend?

VW Beetle 1.8T? It's not (quite) a Golf...
Seat Leon 20VT? Neither's that...

Looks as though he wants advice on something from the Orient.
|
Honda? The tartan rug is optional, I believe...

Toyota Corolla T-Spirit ?

Seems to fit the options, is a few £ more, but would be new & thus 3year warranty...

Nope - like me he thinks the PT Cruiser is naff!
So - any other suggestions?
I told him to take a look at the Toyota Celica, Mazda 6 and the new shape Hyundai Coupe.
