  • Ford Fiesta 1.25 - Servicing 18 Aug 2010 (Forum)
that they will update the ECU software - is this a reason to stick to the main dealer? I should add that I normally do all my own basic servicing (oil, filter , brake pad changes etc) but normally with cars out of warranty and we usually reckon to keep cars for a fair number of years.
  • Jaguar XJ Super 8 Auto 4.2 2003 72k miles. - Gearbox malfunction ? 3 Jul 2010 (Forum)
body with a bill north of £4k. A mechanic friend suggests the gearbox may be getting misinformation from the ECU (???) since the problem only occurs when crawling in traffic queues or similar situations. Needless to say my confidence in the dealers solution is undermined by their indecision
  • SpeedSpike Camera`s - you know it makes sense. 21 Apr 2010 (Forum)
feeling it`s an opportunity missed though. Surely the technology exists to govern cars speed direct from the ECU - via global positioning and also regulate the gap to the car in front? Somehow, you just know that`s the future and an election winning policy for the first political party to embrace it.
  • Peugeot Partner Combi (2001 - 2004) - 03 2.0HDi starting problems 22 Feb 2010 (Forum)
system helped to start the engine. The dealer has also re-checked the valve timing. After a lot of testing the dealer believes the fault lies with the ECU (a Siemens model). It is giving strange readings (when the engine is not running) and it appears that it is not allowing the sensor on the camshaft

on it so it stopped on LPG last night. I have tried to VAGCom it but I cannot establish communication with the ECU (not good). • Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 09 1.9 1.9 diesel - engine cuts out intermittently 12 Sep 2009 (Forum)
filter housing and replaced the fuel filter - I don't think fuel supply to the pump is a problem. I've taken it in for a diagnostic check at the local Citroen dealer and no fault was apparent. The mechanic suggested that the problem could be a solenoid on the diesel pump that communicates with the ECU

  • 12 volts really 14 volts? - Just a query. 17 Feb 2009 (Forum)
all the electrics are rated at 12v, so howcome the altnerators always tend to read more? I thought the output was supposed to be heavily regulated unlike the old dynamos. I am right in thinking things like the ECU have further regulation to ensure it has exactly the correct voltage? I know on a PC

that claim to be VW parts, which look to be effectively a new indicator stalk, with the associated buttons/switches on. I had a 1991 BMW 730i for a short period, and the previous owner had fitted Cruise himself, and told me it was as easy as installing the new stalk, and plugging it into the ECU under
