Audi service garage rec. East Anglia. 23 Sep 2003 (Forum)
but I caught them charging for things they hadn't done and they failed to complete even basic tasks (eg oil change) competently. I moved to a non-franchised Audi specialist (where you actually get to talk to the man with the greasy hands), but they have been sold and no longer specialse in Audi. -
Will I break HF's beloved Astra? 22 Sep 2003 (Forum)
as the cam-belt is changed soon, and the oil and filter are changed every 3,000 miles then everything in the garden is rosy. Your views would be appreciated (as always). And, in case you're wondering why I don't use my own car, look at the "Horrible Cars" thread over in discussion, or click on my profile -

schedule, or would my car benefit from a bit of tlc, in the form of an oil and filter change every 6k or so? Is there anything else I need to do, apart from changing the car, to help me in my quest for a form of transport that never fails me? Any suggestions would be gratefully received. -

Hi Had my clutch and gearbox oil changed on 61 plate Nissan Micra on Tuesday. Car been in family since new and only done 17,000 so really wouldn't have expected having to have a new clutch so soon, never had to have one before and all others cars done in excess of 70,00 miles -
1966 and all that 4 Jun 2002 (Forum)
Here's one for the armchair experts, (real, imagined and wannabe) from the days when they made proper engines. One of my '66 Mustangs has covered a known 139,000 miles from new on the original Ford V-8. It is used regularly, consumes virtually no oil between 5,000 km changes, (oil remains cleanish -

FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - First service costs - being ripped off? 1 Aug 2009 (Forum)
asked them what they were going to be doing for £194 as I think that is very expensive for a first service and they said they would change the oil/filter, air filter, clean brakes and replace the spark plugs. Why do plugs need changing after 8,000 miles? I have never had plugs changed every year -

Golf IV service - idiot questions 14 Oct 2003 (Forum)
decided that I'm going to keep it for at least another 2 years - it would seem almost like a crime to give the car to someone else. I have looked after it well, changing the oil every 6K as rcommended by HJ, and will be dropping it in for a service this week. Before I go in I would like to know -
Express Fit 26 Sep 2003 (Forum)
(doesn't happen often), and I've taken my car there three times now. First for a timing belt change (£120.00), second for an oil and filter change (£24.99) and today for a service. The cost was £158.00 all in for their standard service for cars 3+ years old, and: New front offside Continental Tracking -

also. A major service is due at 27K intervals but intermediate services seem to be little more than a few visual checks and an oil change for £100ish. I intend to do the intermediate services myself after the cambelt change and dealer service at the 27K interval I drive about 40k a year so -
Rover 414 99Reg 2 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Hello there, I just bought this used car and it got a recorded mileage of 33670, and when i brough the car for a health check, the technician said it is due for cam belt change due to age (car first registered in jan 1999) and quote me £179 + vat. Is this the resonable price? I paid for my brakes -

I have a CORSA 2003 SXi which has been no end of trouble since I bought it last February from a registered Vauxhall dealer. In November I had to have the fan belt changed at which point i asked the mechanic why my car had started to make a rattling sound (like a black cab). I was told -

Stuck oil drain plug in a Saab 9-3 17 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I have just been under my recently purchased 1998 Saab 9-3 2.0l attempting to remove the sump plug to drain the oil for a 5000 mile change. Unfortunately some idiot in the garage which serviced it last has either enormously overtighted the plug (it is steel going into an alloy sump) with a large
