  • Has fuel consumption improved? 29 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I've just been looking at my 'What Car' magazine (August 2008) and there is a section about reducing fuel consumption. They've done some tests on cars to show how the speed in top gear effects the consumption, and the results for the Aygo are rather shocking IMHO. The Aygo gets 61mpg
  • higher fuel prices = opportunities for luxury cars 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Speaking personally, higher fuel prices mean that sooner, rather than later, I can finally afford that luxury car I have always wanted. I only drive 6k miles p.a.and working part time make full use of a cheap rail fare to work. Looking at recent auction reports, I may soon be able to purchase
  • Audi A3 + S3 (1996 - 2001) - 1999 1.8 - Fuel Additives - Sluggish Acceleration 31 Dec 2007 (Forum)
shift down before there is acceleration except my car is a manual! The car is an Audi A3 1.8 petrol manual built 1999. Air mass meter was replaced about 18 months ago so I am sure it isn't that (thankfully!). My hope is that maybe there is some crud in the fuel tank which can be blasted out with some
  • A bigger engine = worse fuel economy? 15 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hi, Been looking for a new mid-mpv, at my price range I can get a nearly new 1.6 or 1.8 Zafira or a bit older diesel, pretty much the same situation on the other cars I have looked at. I am keen to get as fuel efficient car as I can, my current Picasso gives around 35 mpg on longer trips
  • Vectra problems 29 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I have a 2.2TDi 03 Elegance I had problems last year which meant the Emergency engine mgt prog cutting in, without warning, which was downright dangerous. After 2 attempts to solve this "known" problem , diagnosed as a software fault, my local dealer then diagnosed a problem with the fuel being
  • vw 110tdi power loss 5 Apr 2005 (Forum)
going up steepish hills. The car's fine until about 2500rpm, at which point the power just seems to die. It's as though someone's turned off the fuel supply. The fuel economy is unaffected. A 400 mile trip along the south coast last week still returned well over 50 mpg and I don't generally hang about
  • 1987 Golf GTi missing on right bends 9 Oct 2004 (Forum)
but instantaneously come back to life meaning the car lurches for a few seconds then seems to recover. The fuel pump has been noisy for years but the misfire/cutouts seem to be related to when the noisy fuel pump whirr becomes an bit irregular. OK I thought, could be the fuel filter so changed that, then the fuel
  • Diesel filter priming - Mk4 Golf. 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Can anyone recommend how I should prime a new diesel filter for fittment to a MkIV Golf TDI engine. There is no manually operated pump to prime the fuel system - or if there is I cant locate it..... It also states in the handbook that if you run out of fuel, it may take the engine longer than
  • Low Fuel Consumption 29 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I have had my Mk3 Golf now for around 2 months. I have been keeping a check on the fuel consumption. I am doing between 32 and 35 mpg. Its a 1.4 CL 4 Speed. I drive about 20 miles a day (in and out of work), most of which is on dual carridge way, some of which is up hill. don't drive it that hard
  • Fuel Company Loyalty Schemes 11 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Following the demise of Asda offering a fuel card with points to be redeemed for future shopping bills (I bought more fuel, instead of food shopping), who now offers the best value scheme? As the Shell station near the Asda store price match, I have now started to use their card. Looks like

  • Supermarket Petrol - Good as branded? 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Hi, Is the petrol sold at supermarkets the same quality as branded fuels? Several years ago rumours circulated that supermarket fuel was inferior to that sold by the oil giants, BP, Esso, Shell, etc.. Any one have any thoughts on this?
  • transit connect 2 Apr 2005 (Forum)

  • bmw 125d S/S - injector cleaner vs turbo cleaner (diesel) 20 Dec 2021 (Forum)
guys/girls (and the undecided..)   is there REALLY a difference between injector cleaner, and turbo cleaner?   Both are added to the fuel, but surely, a good fuel/injector cleaner, will also clean the turbo vanes, via the fuel vapour? I get a little smoke, at speed
  • E 10 water in tank accumulation 23 Oct 2021 (Forum)
Apologies if this has previously been covered.  I am assuming that petrol is not drawn from the very bottom of the tank into the fuel pump? We have all been made aware that water will settle at the bottom of the tank so presumably after a period of time it must be unavoidable
