  You may have read my post earlier today about winning a new Corsa 12v Expression. I think that the high oil consumption of my Fiesta is partly a result of not changing the oil frequently enough - the car has been used mainly for very short trips, and the new Corsa will be used in much the same way

  Hi All I have a VW Golf 1300 81,000 miles Mk2. I am going to change the gearbox oil. I have bought the correct spec oil (Comma 80W/90). If I bought a more expensive oil i.e. Castrol 80W/90 will this improve the gearbox performance and life? Or is there no difference? Thanks Andrew

  I want to change the oil in my Golf MkV GT 2.0TDI early as I don't think it should stay in for 20k miles/ 2 years. Dealer charge is £60 for long life oil. National Tyres offer Visco 7000 (Duckhams I think) fully synthetic oil and filter change for £25 is this ok for my car? I've done 5k miles

  I'm seen it said several times now that timing chains thrive on regular oil changes. As a mechanical dunce, I struggle to see the connection. Isn't the chain on the 'outside' of the engine and the oil on the 'inside'? If so, how does the quality of the oil affect the operation of the chain?
