I had the oil changed/flushed at my Mitsubishi dealer as it was in for a cam belt change anyway. They had a machine which circulated the old oil out and the new oil in. I guess an automatic gearbox specialist would also have one of these. In most cases, you can only remove a portion of the oil by draining the sump/base plate as a lot is still in the torque converter. If you are doing it yourself, be sure to change the filter in the pan. You could keep changing the oil after a short interval, and the proportion of new oil to old would increase each time.

These transmission take about 10 litres in total - although a conventional drain will only remove 5 litres (due to remainder sitting in torque convertor and valve body).
You should use Mitsubishi Diamond SP-III ATF - this is not quite the same as Dexron-III (more highly friction modified). Some places (e.g. Camskill) will sell you a couple of gallons of D-III and some 'additive' - but I would only use the proper stuff if I were you. It is also available from Kia and Hyundai dealers and may be cheaper from them. There is an external filter can on the top of the gearbox - this needs changing - dead easy to do.
SOME Mitsi dealers have a proper rig to pump out the old fluid and pump in the new at the same time. They probably charge £100 for the privilige.
Personally I would go for an annual change of 5 litres and a new filter.
