Driving in the lap of luxury

My Volvo S80 SE LUX was seven years old (68K on the clock) and I felt that I should change it, even though it was never a sc*** of trouble – just the annual services and a few new tyres. I bought a Lexus IS 250 SE- L and instantly regretted my decision. It was like a toy car, and the seats were so uncomfortable. It seemed to seek out the bumps in the road and there were plenty of those. As I suffer from an old rugby injury, I had found the Volvo seats to be extremely comfortable.

Having bumped my head on getting into the Lexus for the umpteenth time, and I am only 6’, I decided to take action.

So, I bit the financial bullet and sold it on and bought a Volvo S80 SE D3. What a great choice! The comfort is outstanding, and the acceleration puts the Lexus on the shade. I get about 38 miles to the gallon around town, and I am not a frugal driver. It drives like a dream and three months on I am delighted with my decision to return to Volvo. Of course I will make sure that I do an extended trip every month as I am retired and my mileage is low, and avoid the old diesel particulate filter problem.
Just a great excuse to go for a long drive in a brilliant car!
