No problems

An update of my review of this vehicle of two years ago. It has now covered nearly 47,000 trouble-free miles, usually having at least one long journey of 80/90 miles each week.

It has had one pair of new front tyres which have about 1mm of legal tread left, the rear tyres are hardly worn.

The overall fuel consumption, which currently shows 55.1mpg is amazing for this size of vehicle and represents a considerable financial saving over my other vehicle, a petrol Nissan X-Trail auto.

The car will go back to the supplying dealer at the end of October to be replaced by the SE model.

The only problems have been caused by others. It appears that somebody with a cycle rack on their car has just lightly touched the rear door leaving three very small dents. The other was when I took the car to a different VW dealer for a routine service. I did this because they wash it as well. Unfortunately in doing so the paint on the top edge of the rear bumper was brush marked back to the undercoat over about 40 inches. They did of course deny any liability, but after a considerable amount of heated discussion eventually said they would have it repaired 'as a goodwill gesture'. It would be more convenient for me to deal with them, but their initial intransigence over the paint repair has cost them at least one new car sale.
