Toyota Verso S (2011 - 2013)
1.4 t spirit
Quite satisfactory, better than both the old and new Jazz
Everything works as it should, very well screwed together, not a single rattle or shake anywhere. Steering is actually quite sharp, cornering excellent for it's class, brakes excellent, economy average around 44 mpg on mix of motorways and urban. Paintwork better than anything we have ever had before.
The performance is not exactly shattering, but adequate, very, very smooth engine, revs freely, likes being revved.
Insurance - £179 with Saga.
Better than the Jazz, yes, we should know, we have had 2 old, and 1 new Jazz. Why - much, much better ride, does not crash into potholes. Sharper steering. Steamed up windows clear quickly, and stay cleared, the Jazz was hopeless regarding the ventilation.
More space than the Jazz, bigger, more usable boot. Doesn't have magic seats, but do we miss them - no. I do miss the cruise though. Cheaper tyres than the Jazz 1.4 ex, which were an unusual size and around £102 EACH - I could buy cheaper tyres for my L200.
Note Honda - it has a working handbrake as well that does not come off of it's own accord. I find Honda build quality very variable. All the Japanese / Chinese Jazz's were perfect, except the first which did not have a reverse gear (!) - how did they get it off the transporter ? My Swindon built (old) CRV was perfect, I spent 3 years looking for the smallest fault - no chance. My Swindon built Civic was absolute r******, the pits, and I know of others as well.
The glass roof is bigger than the Jazz, but as we never have any sun these days it's irrelevant.
