Brilliant towcar

Over two years now in my LC4 with no breakdowns, even with quite a bit of towing a 1500Kg caravan. This car makes a superb towcar - its a very relaxing drive with almost no steering input required even when being overtaken by lorries. Indeed, I'd say its 4 stars for solo driving experience, 5 stars for towing experience.

I did have one slight problem - a "thump from behind" when pulling to a stop - it turned out that the rear propshaft needed greasing (done as part of the service). When it returned (much less severe though), the propshaft was changed under warranty.

There does seem to be one design flaw to be aware of. There have been issues with seals at the base of the injectors failing. Toyota have extended the warranty to 5 years/100,000 miles. But it might be worth paying to get the injector seals changed if you're planning to keep the car beyond that. I'm now expecting to go the next 100,000 miles without any further intervention.

The tyres last forever - I changed them because I wanted to go offroad more (to General AT2 which really suit the car) - but at 20,000 miles there was still 6mm tread on the rears and 4mm on the fronts. Even main dealer servicing has been reasonably priced. The only downside is the cost of the roadtax.

I hugely recommend joining www.tlocuk.co.uk
