It’s a lot of car!

I bought this car after extensively looking around for a more practical car due to a growing family. I don’t really need 7 seats, most of the time they’re folded down and I have a huge boot but it’s a nice bonus feature to have should I need them. So naturally SUV seemed the way to go, didn’t want diesel with the current furore around them. I was moving from a plug in hybrid vehicle so knew petrol was the way but wasn’t keen on another plug in. I do a mix of long and short commutes and plug ins on a long drive aren’t the most economical. I do about 20/24 miles daily to and back from work which is mix of A roads and in town driving. The highlander I usually get way above the stated MPGs. I get high 40s even 50 at times! Checked the onboard computer and app to confirm this. Yes this is more pricey than what you’d expect but you get A LOT of car. It’s comfortable, eats up the miles and surprisingly nimble around town. Especially when batteries are charged and ready to crawl and creep around. Toyota so should prove to be more reliable than its European counterparts. I love the kit you get with the car, got all the toys I could wish for. It doesn’t haven’t air suspension so ride isn’t all that comfortable compared to others but it is fine and I’ve not had the best of luck with air suspensions in the past! Overall its a good car, don’t see many about which gives it extra kudos. It’s been a great mile muncher on long trips and overall MPG is good, just long distance in motorways you’ll get around high 30s in the MPG which isn’t bad considering it is not a diesel and how big it is. Some people don’t like the CVT style transmission when you floor it but that is on a very rare occasion, personally I don’t find the noise bothers me, it’s not designed to be a “pedal to the metal” kind of car. Drive it how it was intended and it’s a fine ride. Servicing is more reasonable cost wise compared to its European rivals, and on the whole I am hoping it’ll prove to be a reliable car. 10 year Toyota warranty, 5 years initially and then another 5 if you service it with them, the hybrid battery has a 15 year warranty. Giving further confidence to Toyotas reliability. Don’t see many others offering anything like this!
