Suzuki Grand Vitara (2005 - 2014)
GV 2500 V6 Auto 4 x 4
Comfortable, reliable, good spec
I have run this car from new and it has been serviced by the dealer from whom I purchased it. Unfortunately they lost the Suzuki franchise a couple of years ago but have still maintained the skills and equipment.
The car is reasonably quick, 0 - 60 in 9.7 seconds, holds the road well except on bumpy surfaces at speed when the live rear axle shows itself. However, one can make good comfortable progress on all roads. Fuel consumption is averaging 26.8mpg, a little thirsty compared with more modern cars. Oil consumption after 97,000 is nil. Tyre wear is good, 60,000 per set. The leather is still looking good and the seats are supportive. Paint is still good with no rust and all the electrics still work. The 4 x 4 range is manually engaged with a short lever, which I prefer rather than hand responsibility to an 'electron' that may not tell me when it is going to change the handling characteristics of my car before it does!! The normal drive configuration is 2wd to the rear wheels, which I much prefer as lost traction under power still leaves me with the capability to steer!!
I'd buy another but they don't make them any more and the 'new' 2.4 auto is permanent 4wd.
