Subaru XV (2018 on)
2.0i SE Lineartronic 5dr
Extremely Versatile All Rounder
I downsized to this car from 2017 Lexus RX450h Premier due to not driving for work because of lockdown. The build quality and panel fit is almost as good as the Lexus at half the new list price. In fact the technology in the car is far superior with a much easier to use entertainment interface and the extremely effective eyesight safety system. The ability to set the cruise control to 20mph is a bonus for city driving. Interior leg and headroom is almost as good as the Lexus and the full time four wheel drive is an improvement on a part time set up. I immediately replaced the factory Bridgestone tyres with Michelin Cross Climate + tyres which transformdd the grip and handling. The only downside is the fuel consumption which is averaging around 32mpg of mainly urban or country lane use. Motorway driving does however improve this. My fuel consumption is checked tankful to tankful in an app. This compared to my Lexus which averaged 36mpg with the albeit hybrid power train and 3.5 litre V6.
My wife will now drive this car as she found the Lexus too complex and bulky to enjoy.
Shame Dealerships aren't plentiful (nearest to me is over 30 miles away).
I'm sure if Subaru pushed advertising the car would sell better in the UK.
Shame as they are a big hit in America.
Also The US get a 2.5 litre engine which would make the car perfect for my needs.
