Skoda Rapid (2012 - 2019)
S 1.2 TSI 90 5dr Hatchback
Economical, reliable and comfortable motoring - the Skoda Rapid is worth a look
Looking for a new car at the excellent Faintree Skoda in Telford, where I have been a customer since 1988, I was recommended by the owner, Paul Wedgbury, to try a used Skoda Rapid to replace my 180,000 mile Octavia Classic. I have not purchased a used car since 1983, so was a little nervous, but I was reassured that I would save a lot of money, and not notice any real difference with the 12,000 mile car I was purchasing. I have not been disappointed; the performance of the 1.2 petrol engine is superior to my former 1.6 Octavia; I regularly achieve 48-50mpg, and 55 mpg on a recent visit to Durham, most of which was at 50mph on speed limited motorways. The car is comfortable, quiet, reliable and spacious, including the huge boot.
The dashboard is undoubtedly plasticky in appearance, but I struggle to find any other "minus" points; I have now travelled over 40,000 trouble free miles in the car in 22 months of ownership. The Rapid is my seventh Skoda since 1988, when I started with a rear-engined 130GL; I can unreservedly recommend it, and also Faintree Skoda in Telford for first class sales and service.
