Great car

Spacious, practical, comfortable, well built, and good value. Steers and rides well, and handling is respectable. The new engine trundles well and is good (if not particularly eager) on fast roads, but gives stubbornly indifferent fuel economy and, on more demanding x-country runs, a compromised drive - hesitant, turbo-lumpy and loud under load. Skoda need to work some magic on this engine, as they did with the 12v. UPDATE: after several dealer investigations, a rogue engine management parameter has been identified and corrected. Much improved running now: fuel economy a little better, too. Now happy to recommend this engine as well as the car.
