SEAT Ibiza (2002 - 2009)
1.2 12v Reference 5dr Hatchback
Good value.
I bought this car for my daughter for her to help brush up on her driving lessons. She passed soon after and has been driving it for the past couple of years.
I was looking for a reliable car that had 5 doors with a low insurance group. The SEAT came up at the right price and fitted the bill. Since then it has lived up to expectations and she is very happy with it.
Apart from regular servicing it has needed a coil spring on the driver's side front suspension, a passenger door window regulator and a new boot switch (a small hole in the rear washer pipe was leaking and this made the boot switch fail; this boot switch also activates the small light in the boot and this wasn't working).
We have just done a 240 mile round trip to family up North which included M5/M6 and A roads on the way up (max 75mph) and rush hour, stop start M6/M5 motorway traffic on the way back (max 80mph). This was with 3 adults all with overnight bags. It's the first time that I have driven it any distance. I must say that it coped very well and I was pleasantly surprised. The suspension can be a little harsh and it's not the fastest to 80mph but it holds motorway speeds easily, the engine was very smooth and it returned an overall 43mpg which is commendable for a small engine.
All in all, I'd recommend it.
