Overall reliability

Extremely well made, solid, reliable

This is a distinctive machine there being few on the roads which is surprising in view of the car's Audi/VW provenance and excellent value for money. Cost £10K at two and a half years old with 44K miles on the clock. The clunk when you close the doors is impressive (my V50 Volvo seemed decidedly tinny in comparison). It feels secure on the road, pulls strongly when asked though the engine tone can sound a bit strained when the car is pushed. Mostly I drive smoothly and economically with average mpg in the high forties, sometimes low fifties. The ride is firm and the seats a little too firm without enough support (no comparison with the Volvo whose seats were its best feature). Irritating to have to replace the cambelt after 5 years or 80K miles which cost £400 at a local garage. So far the car has been utterly dependable and looks good for long-term ownership.
