I don't want to sell it!

I bought this Mégane after three years of really wanting one.

After hearing tales of turbo woes with the 1.9 dCi, and experiencing the unexciting pace of the 1.6 and 1.4 petrols, I plumped for the 2.0 VVT - it's a rare one to find, but it's worth the wait!

This car also had £2,500 of options added new - full black leather interior, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, 17" alloy wheels... the list goes on. It is supremely comfortable, while being sporty when you're in the mood. Yes, the big wheels make for a bit of a crashy ride on uneven surfaces, but on the motorway, the 6th gear and torquey engine make up for it.

Mégane ownership seems to be a bit hit or miss. There are good ones or bad ones. I bought mine with 58,000 miles. It had clearly been cherished, with full Renault service history and a spotless interior. One year and a cambelt change later and we've hit 74,000.

Problems: Failed boot catch (car wouldn't lock!), drivers electric window failed (will happen to every Mégane at some point), damp underfloor cubbies, door handle lock buttons are tempermental. But I'm not complaining, these were inexpensive to put right and are purely quality issues, not mechanical!

To sum up, with features such as auto wipers and headlights, elec. folding door mirrors, keyless start the Mégane is supremely well equipped. Also 8 airbags and a 5 star EuroNCAP rating!
