Renault Clio (2013 - 2019)
Dynamique S MedaiNav ENERGY dCi 90 Stop and Start 5dr Hatchback
Liveable but has issues
So I bought my car from new from Evans Halshaw, Leeds. Unfortunately the purchase process wasn't great but that's Evans Halshaw rather than Renault.
I've own the car over a year now and on the whole I'm happy with my purchase but the car does have a few issues that I think you should be aware of.
The general positives of the car is that it's a decent size, the boot is fairly large. The fuel economy is pretty close to the advertised figures, I get 65-70mpg on the motorway and a combined total of 55-60mpg. The Dynamique S comes with a host of extras, cruise control, speed limiter, folding mirrors, climate control, MediaNav - Bluetooth, Sat Nav, Touch Screen, USB. Overall ride is good.
The general negatives are, lack of power if you're not in the right rev range. Tyre weld kit rather a spare wheel (I have used this and it did work but you've got to drive on a punctured tyre for 3 miles to get it to seal... not great!) Back seats don't lie flat for transporting large objects. Another negative is the diamond cut alloys, although they look great, if you damage them good luck find someone who repairs them properly. In Leeds the nearest places are Doncaster or Manchester and given they need them for 3 days and you have no spare wheel you're not left with many options. Also it does have rattles and other noises, especially from the boot and dash.
Now I thought it would be worth detailing the everyday features which you've got to live with everyday and unfortunately some have issues.
MEDIANAV - Generally it works fine but there is a known issues with music playback and iPhones. The MediaNav does not fully support the iPhone, despite what the website says. During music playback the music skips and jumps every 10-15secs which is really annoying. If you want uninterrupted playback use USB cable. Renault claims its software related but it is hardware related. They keep stating a software patch will be released to solve the problem but I've been waiting 12 months now and still no joy.
SAT NAV - generally pretty good, especially now they've introduced full postcode search (update required)
RADIO - Some of the user interface could be improved when switching between stored stations and the main screen. The RDS function is poor, takes ages to find the strongest signal and re-tune which results in listening to static interference for up to a minute, if not longer.
AUTOMATIC WIPERS - r******! Wipes either too little or too much, never the right amount and can not handle surface spray.
AUTOMATIC LIGHTS - Has poor moments, during bright daylight the headlights will be on rather than the daytime running.
CRUISE CONTROL/SPEED LIMITER - They've put the main switch by the handbrake which is a little weird, no idea why they didn't integrate this on the steering wheel.
CLIMATE CONTROL - When the car is full of passengers it does struggle to cope and mists up quite easily. The one-touch demist does work well but it is noisy.
