Timing Belt worn after less than 55,000 miles
This is an update of my review on 18/6/2019. Since the “fix” was done in France the engine warning light with a general error & sometimes an oil pressure warning has come on numerous times in the UK in 2021. Took to Peugeot garage & paid £80 for diagnostics & was told they did a software update but if it comes on again to get timing belt or oil pump changed! On my OBD reader I was getting 3 to 6 errors from cam sensor B relating to timing issues. I complained to Peugeot head office as this error had been happening since 2019 & if it’s the timing belt it should not need replacing at this mileage. Luckily I had all the receipts for the services & work done which was all from Peugeot dealership. All the oil changes were done by Peugeot dealers so they couldn’t blame incorrect oil, as this is a B.I.O. belt. Good result, Peugeot are paying for timing belt change & all associated parts. I’m assuming it’s deteriorated & bits have been clogging up the oil system affecting the pressure. I forgot to add in my original post then when I was at the Peugeot dealer in Saintes, France the mechanic there explained the belt was a known problem but I couldn’t ascertain from him whether it was the ancillary or timing belt but he said it was ok to carry on driving back to Brittany, where the garage there replaced an o ring on the timing solenoid ( which never solved the problem)
