Peugeot 208 (2012 - 2019)
Allure 1.6 e-HDi Stop and Start 92 3dr Hatchback
Average Small Hatch
Not owned a Peugeot since the 206, so decided to try another.
I shall start with the good, as with any Peugeot diesel the 208 was extremely efficient and cheap to run with free road tax. And being the bigger 1600cc diesel it was fairly quick for a small car as it has 92 horsepower and lots of diesel torque.
To drive the 208 is fairly average, nothing impressive but fairly comfy for a small hatch.
The interior is not the best in class but it is not the worst either, fairly average.
The first issue we encountered was the drivers seat stopped folding forwards, which we got fixed by Peugeot at around £500 (fairly expensive). Have had issues with the touchscreen as well which was a pain. Other than that all we have replaced has been the rear exhaust mount. So not too bad, but could be better for a 2012 car with 70.000 miles.
So would I recommend the Peugeot 208 to a friend?
Possibly. It is better than Vauxhalls and some Asian hatchbacks but cannot match the best out of its rivals such as the Skoda Fabia, Renault Clio and Ford Fiesta.
