Mitsubishi Colt (2008 - 2013)
1.3 CZ2 ClearTec 5dr Hatchback
Does what it says on the tin
Just bought it 4 days ago from a dealer in Chertsey. I drove down from North Yorks in a VW Passat at 9am and got home at midnight in a Colt 5door cleartec. Ok, so it does not have the refinement of a Passat but then it ain't a £20,000 car either. Quite pleased with the ride quality though but i'd like to know who at Mitsubishi is responsible for speccing the car. I mean, you get cruise control, air con, steering wheel audio control and four electric windows but no glovebox light and only the drivers door has illumination for the electric window control, all passengers are required to bring their own torch then!! Now that i'm familiar with the on-board computer i'm suprised that it does not get near 60mpg as quoted. 47litre fuel tank gave me 461 miles that equates to 44.3mpg not the quoted 60+ but still noticeably cheaper than a Passat with 700 cc more in the power plant and a much bigger car. Niggles? well, yes i have, seems the obligatory rattling dash is standard on all Colts but mine has also an ear shattering racket from the tailgate area, i'm hoping my local Mitsubishi agent will remedy this. This is the second Mitsubishi i have owned........ the first about 7 years ago, it was a VCR recorder, made those guys in Chertsey laugh. Anyway, £7500 for a 2010 (10) plated car is very good and it comes with three years servicing, it also came with reversing sensors, 4 mudflaps and interior mats so a further Brucie then. Personally i would recommend this car as it's an honest pretentious free 4 wheeled chariot, and it has a leather rimmed steering wheel. Four days i've had it and i still cannot find the boot, yes it is small, if your weekly shop amounts to more than a can of beans, well, you're in trouble, but i knew this prior to buying so i will not be critical on that point.
Overall i'd recommend this car for its sheer honesty and £30 annual road fund licence. The less i give the Chancellor the better i like it. Go on, buy one, you will not regret it IF you have seriously thought about it and driven it. Oh, it looks good in black.
