An interesting 'Sheep'

This review is based on my diesel Colt 1.5 Di-D AMT which I bought exactly 1 month ago.

So far I am delighted with the car - The interior room is definitely worth commenting on - Front passengers have ample leg and side room and loads of height. Passengers in the rear have pretty good room with the seats forward and AMPLE room with the back seat bench pushed back! I guarantee your passengers will be very impressed!

The engine is a cracker! loads of power in 2nd and 3rd and 6th is really quiet on the motorway or faster roads. (I can gear more wind noise than engine, but even that's not obtrusive and I'm able to chat without any shouting)

The transmission is a bit quirky - There's not much 'creep' and the car will roll back like a manual on any uphill. Takes a bit to bite too but I've gotten use to it. Sometimes does something quirky and the gear changes are a little rough (revvy or changes down too early) but once I adapted my driving style a bit I didnt notice so much. - From other reviews I've read the transmission is the worse thing about this car and yes the comments are valid but its not a deal-breaker and it's functionality and reliability is far more important at this price point.

It looks great - Unusual design and the bonnet spine for me is it's attraction. good sized wheels and an interesting mix of MPV and small hatch.

Quality is alright - The panels are solid enough - Quite large gaps and lots of wind and road noise. The interior is indeed plastic and hard and a bit creaky but everything is well thought out and looks hardwearing. The seats are very good but a little bit basic - Not as wide deep or thick as something like a Polo but a seat's a seat. The leather steeringwheel is nice! :o)

I cant comment on reliability but no probs to date touch wood and the economy really is 40 in town and 60mpg on the open road!

All in all, I think this is a excellent car. Well thought out, well put together and extremely practical. Ive used it for airport runs with A LOT of luggage, city driving, cruising, touring, all sorts - Handles everything with ease.

It might not have the same cred, quality and style as it's german equivalents but if you buy one you might just have the last laugh ;o)
