Mitsubishi ASX (2010 - 2021)
ASX 3 4X4
Best car ever and I have had a few !
Review by Stephen 15/08/2012
Previously owned Daihatsu Fourtrak, Land Rover Discovery and Fiat Panda cross 4x4 so I have a fair basket of comparables.
This crossover combines the fun of the Daihatsu, the versatility of the Discovery and the convenience and economy of the Panda Cross.
It is roomy and very functional with excellent fuel economy and pulling power.
The controls are a little bit of a fiddle-faddle but that comes as a bonus to me as I like to think that I am the proud possessor of something more complicated than other people could manage !
I am yet to try-out the four wheel drive function but am confident it will be as robust as the manufacturer's reputation suggests; it is easily engaged by a rotary dial in front of the handbrake (itself seemingly a little fragile compared with the rest of the beast)
Criticism as to absence of a spare wheel is relatively cheaply met: I added a proper spare wheel with a"get one home" tyre for just about £ 175, supplied by the dealer
I "tracked" this car for about two years - comparing with every conceivable alternative - and am glad I finally made up my mind in favour of this my original preference
A couple of final observations: the diesel engine is very quiet due to its low (for a diesel) compression ratio; pulling power is great and effortless; driving position superb
Go and try it and keep me company because I have not seen too many on the road yet
