MG 5 EV (2021 on)
Excite 52.5kWh 5dr
Best car that I have owned in 68 years of driving
For me the car looks attractive, easy to clean the upholstery and trim look as new after almost three years of wear. The only problem I have experienced was the rear screen washer however after reading the manual carefully I realised it was just operated slightly differently to my previous cars. I have only done 17,000 miles to date but in the Summer the economy and range is very good. For example I covered 181 miles last June on only 81% of a full charge. The SOH of my battery is sill 100%. I did feel rather nervous about having no handbrake and have always only driven manual gearboxes previously. However I now enjoy all of the automatic features and am slowly coming to trust their capabilities. I find the large boot very useful but would prefer the back seats to lay down flat rather than angling up slightly when folded forward. The built in Sat nav. is very good at giving the option of the shortest route. I find this extremely useful with an electric car especially when you need a few extra miles to the next charge point. Waze and Google maps work fine through the built in display, as does the mobile 'phone. However I was disappointed that the green telephone button on the steering wheel only works on the more expensive model. I have been in various other ev' s including Tesla but as far as I am concerned my MG 5ev at £20k represents much better value.
