E220d 2.0 AMG Line Premium Auto 5dr Estate

Without doubt the best car I have ever bought - brilliant!

I'm 2 months into the ownership of my new E Class estate and I couldn't be happier. I have had an A4 estate, 3 A6 estates, a 5 series estate, a Volvo Estate and 2 Galaxys - this car beats them hands down. I have also had test drives in the F Pace and new Q5 and again it murders them for space, comfort and performance. Ok, I accept that it is also the most expensive car that I have ever bought, but with the 15% or thereabouts that I was able to negotiate off the list price, plus 5.10% APR for the PCP; it is more affordable than you might think. The new 2.0 litre diesel is fantastic, is already producing mid to late 40s mpg and goes like stink when asked. The 9 speed gearbox is smooth and the various settings allow you to choose between economy, comfort and sport modes. It is a big car so it cannot be thrown around the road, then again I had a Golf GTI when I wanted to do that, why would I expect a big estate car to do the same? Having said that, the handling is perfectly composed and there is no doubt my nerve would give way before the car did. In normal driving it handles every bit as well as required. It is very comfortable with the alcantara and leather sport seats and it is easy to find, and keep thanks to the memory function, a comfortable driving position. The car is loaded with kit as standard and I added the premium pack, metallic paint (it looks stunning in grey) and a couple of other bits to take the list price to over £46,000, albeit the purchase price was £39,500. Audis have a reputation for brilliant interiors, but trust me, this knocks spots off them - it is at a different level altogether. No great surprise really as it appears to have been lifted straight out of the S Class. The load bay is huge - I have just transported 2 pallets to our allotment - and easily accommodates our Springer Spaniel and all of my 3 year old granddaughter's clutter. The only downside is that my wife is struggling to get to grips with an automatic - then again it means she doesn't ask to drive it that often. All in all a brilliant car and I cannot for the life of me understand the move to SUVs when an old style estate looks and drives as well as this Merc.
