Mercedes-Benz A-Class (2005 - 2012)
A180CDI SE Avantgarde
My second so they must be alright!
I actually bought this with 300 miles on the clock - it hadn't been used as a demonstrator not that that makes much of a difference. I ran my last A class 2 litre diesel auto for about 18k and as it was coming to near the end of its warranty decided to buy this one which was at a considerable discount to new. It has most of the bells and whistles including Parktronic (which I find a tad slow to react for modern traffic but when it gets time to work it is very good). I've covered about 9K now and I'm not sure whether the engine has settled down yet but I got about 52 mpg recently (fill up to fill up - real world not the onboard computer) without thrashing it on a run down to Southampton from Lincoln but (fill up to fill up) recently around town and short journeys 41 mpg is nearer the mark. It is very comfortable even though the seats feel very stiff and easily seats four in comfort for runs to the continent. It cruises all day at motorway speeds and the revs are invariably below 2000 (which is where the good motorway consumption springs from). Bad points? Not really much to mention. Perhaps a little behind the times technologically on their radio cd - I wish it had a DAB radio. Good points - Dealer servicing is excellent (Listers), Its not cheap but I remember paying a lot more for a Mazda 323 and that was no great shakes. Their garages are very smart and I like being able to have a cup of free coffee and watch my car being attended to.
