Mazda CX-5 (2017 on)
sportnav+ with safety pack
Fabulous SUV very poor customer service
I have owned several Mazda's and Mazda CX5's in the past so i had no qualms when buying this car. In fact my dealer had already set up a deal for me when he saw this model which had never been used although it had been registered and so he reset the deal for this one at the same price. (good dealership).
My love of the car remains as it excels and is competent in all areas exceeding in most. My BIG gripe is with Mazda them selves. Due to covid the mileage has been relatively low so when literally a few days out of its warranty the gearbox cable snapped leaving it in 2nd gear. i struggled to get the car to safety and when Mazda assist were not interested i turned to my own recovery team who took the car to the main dealer. The dealer could not source the part from Mazda and agreed with me that the part should never have failed on a car this young and although now out of warranty they would chase up Mazda for the part.
Fortunately Mazda agreed to foot the bill for the replacement. This took a month and during that time Mazda insisted that i should not be without a car and would also chase up the part. They stated they had arranged with the garage to supply a car the garage couldn't at that time so Mazda customer service didnt bother. In fact at one point they contacted me to say the dealer now had the part (it hadn't and had been keeping me up to speed on this) i contacted Mazda to say the part actually hadn't arrived but they were on a training day so i asked them to call me back(they didn't and still haven't) The dealership was excellent though. In i have had a recall for the fuel pump and the garage has ensured that there was a car for me . In fact a boot EBL switch has now failed with a 3 figure replacement price (FOR A SWITCH) WHICH AGAIN SHOULD NEVER HAVE FAILED. It has been suggested this is due to water egress which could have only happened due to rainfall (i live in Scotland not the Sahara). Again the dealership is now chasing this up with Mazda. My dealership has done more for customer service than Mazda customer service. I can still thoroughly recommend the car due to the dealership customer service but Mazda assist and customer service appear to only give lip service and really interested in their customer base hence this gripe. In addition im due to replace this car and there is no Hybrid available to replace it with as yet ( i believe the CX60 may fit the bill) but unless Mazda improve their warranty, quality of their parts and customer service it wont be top of my list next time.
