Mazda 6 (2013 - 2022)
Se-l Nav s/s
Smooth, refined and spacious
Bought this as a 3 year old ex company car after after research, very economical, refined and surprisingly good handling for a large car.
Went back to Mazda twice for recalls, very efficient and loan cars offered on both occasions.
Until a month ago, other than a faulty MAF sensor and drop links and bushes, it only had tyres, discs and brake pads plus regular servicing.
About a month ago the low oil pressure light came on while driving, I pulled over and got checked oil levels, everything ok, started up again, still on. Got towed home as I was 5 miles away and got my garage to pick it up.
Oil pump chain guides had worn allowing oil pump chain to break, this cost me just short of £1500, Mazda apparently have a modified chain/guide assembly which suggests they are aware of the problem but have not issued a service notification or recall.
Mileage is 78k which is low and car has oil/filter changes every 10k regardless, this isn't the first for my garage and another one was due in the week I picked mine up.
Car is back and driving as well as ever, however, I suspect a lot of other folks wouldn't be as fortunate.
I have a good friend with 2.0 petrol version, engine lacks low down torque imo (for a petrol, there is no comparison with the diesel version!), good above 2.8k revs and pulls well, maybe next time.
