Kia Sportage (2010 - 2016)
First Edition
My Sportage FE is the dog's whatsits
This is my first all-wheel drive vehicle and I'm yet to discover what it's like when the going gets really slippery although it made easy work of a muddy incline I tackled the other day. Clearly looks are a matter of taste and I love it's bulldog stance (it has a prettier face). It's the first SUV car I've seen without that popemobile glazing thing going on. The Range Rover Evoque has a similar window line. I'm not kidding myself it's one of these either. None the less I'm more than impressed with the spec level. The reversing camera is actually invaluable and not just a gimmick. I've got heated seats front and rear, they're quickly becoming one of those accessories you wonder how you ever got by without in the past (very relaxing). To keep this brief the car drives well on our moonscape road surfaces, reassuringly surefooted. It does have some imperfections and the cabin might not be Germanic in quality. You pay for what you get. Yes the doors don't shut as easily as you might expect. I just close them with a slight push (does the trick) Not as many cubby holes as other cars I've owned, but hey this just encourages you to hoard less junk. Economy, I've done just over 1300 miles. I'm getting about 37mpg with short journeys and motorway driving on several occasion returned 42mpg at about 75mph. Still not managing the 47 claimed by Kia. Not too bad considering the size of vehicle. So if you want value for money, a mega warrantee and you can manage to put badge snobbery to one side the new Sportage is the dog's b..... (btw I'm not connected to motor industry in any way).
