Kia Sorento (2015 - 2022)
2.2 CRDi KX-4 197 6speed ISG Auto 5dr SUV
Nice to look at lots of niggles though ;-(
On the face of it it's a lot of metal with easy on the eyes looks if not particularly original. My understanding of Kia has been an honest solid reliable company that is building its reputation in an ever increasing spiral of innovation and new heights of customer service from its competitors. The reality is somewhat different. 7 year warranty is a headlining offering, for me so far it's about the only lifeline I have. In the three months I've owned the car it's been in for probably one month. Faults as miserably basic as unbalanced wheels, camber calibrations out on near side rear wheel, along with windscreen wipers that hit the windscreen pillar and out of alignment headlights have occurred. My latest challenge is a persistent draw to the left when driving in a straight line. After an hour of experincing continuous impersonations of a defective shopping trolley caster your left with a repetitive strain to your right hand, not what you expect from any new car especially one with a list of of £40 k. I'm told so far this is a 'characteristic' not sure it's a good 'characteristic' bearing in mind this car has many advanced automated driving aids including one that applies a safe distance from the car in front!
My supplying dealer has shown support but ultimately the product isn't made by them, they are purely the middleman carrying the can for what is increasingly becoming a pain for them.
Apparently the latest Kia Sorento has a 'characteristic' forcing the driver to permanently correct the vehicles desire to propel you towards the left hand side, this 'quality' is evident regardless of the lane you are in.
I'm at the point where I await technical team inspection provided by Kia. I will update this post according to the outcome of that inspection.
In essence Kia are pushing hard with range renewals and obviously kicking them out at a pace beyond their capability to manage faults before customers have to endure high levels of anxiety and seeming lack of support to people prepared to help raise the profile of this aspiring manufacturer.
This car has strong pluses but things like not driving in a straight line do little to meet the claims that the sorento circa 2017 is a car for protectionists, more that it's an overpriced wanna be. :-(
My advice for now ...... steer clear, I've heard skoda has a offering in this market right around the corner.
