Kia Picanto (2011 - 2017)
Kia Picanto 1.0 3 Door
Good Car But Poor Fuel Economy
Covered 9k miles from new which has mainly been on the motorway. Drives well enough but the steering might be a little vague for those used to 'sporty' cars. Fuel economy very poor compared to official figures it has been approx 20mpg less. Even when driven gently with constant low revs the official fuel figures are not possible, you cannot even get close to them. Paint is quite poor quality a high number of stone chips evident on the bonnet which shows that the paint quality is below par compared to other manufacturers. Stone chips seem to show bare metal underneath rather than a base coat paint which is not good. If parked in heavy rain and left overnight sometimes the hand brake makes a loud clunk noise on release.
Reliability has been nothing short of excellent. the seats are supportive and the 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine is quiet and refined at 70mph and the revs are only around 3200rpm which for a small car is good. Overall a good car but Kia do have some quality issues to address around the paint and general finish of the car.
