Jaguar F-Pace (2016 on)
Crossover 2.0d 180ps Portfolio AWD 5dr
Disaster
The car itself is well presented and very practical. It has the looks and comfort you would expect from what was jaguar. Its spacious and a very pleasant place to be with its elevated driving position and good all round vision. It has all the toys you could want . It is however let down by the engine which is at best fragile. The 2 litre weak point is the timing chain guides which do fail leading to catastrophic engine failure. Between 40 and 80 thousand miles. The 3 litre has drive shaft issues, when corrected this then leads to crankshaft failure which is also catastrophic. This fantastic car is let down by its super fragile engine which costs around 5 thousand to repair. Once repaired the countdown starts again for the next catastrophic failure. It's a shame that jaguar know this yet do nothing and allow this to continue as its only about 20 percent that fail. To the twenty percent of owners its devastating as jaguar or warranty company's won't cover the damage. To jaguar its just a small number and doesn't matter. In short a fantastic car ruined by its cheap and fragile ingienium engine and jaguars failure to recognise its own failure. After 15 years as a jaguar customer this has now ended as I now feel what is sold to the public under the jaguar badge is not really a jaguar you would expect to have for your money . I would look at a volvo or mercedes the build quality and reliability are far superior I would give 1/2 stars across the board apart from reliability which I would give 1 starl I would give 5 stars but that would be when it's not being repaired.
